Women-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE)

Have you ever wondered or marveled about why people are different?

Type theory provides a framework for you to understand human behavior. It helps you to understand yourself and your behaviors, to appreciate others and make constructive use of individual differences; and to see that approaching situations in a variety of ways can be healthy and productive.

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, based on Jung’s theory of psychological type, provides a positive way to look at your preferred behaviors and to identify common patterns. The MBTI® instrument has a wide range of applications that promote personal and professional growth and development. These applications include:

  • Self-understanding and development
  • Career development and exploration
  • Organization development
  • Team building
  • Management and leadership training
  • Decision making
  • Performance improvement
  • Coaching
  • Problem-solving
  • Conflict resolution
  • Relationship counseling
  • Education and curriculum development
  • Academic counseling
  • Diversity and multicultural training

With more than 50 years of research and development, MBTI is the most widely used instrument for understanding normal personality differences. It explains the four basic patterns in human functioning:

  • Extraversion—Introversion: describes where you prefer to focus your attention and get your energy—from the outer world of people and activity or their inner world of ideas and experiences.
  • Sensing—Intuition: describes how you prefer to take in information—focused on what is real and actual or on patterns and meanings in data.
  • Thinking—Feeling: describes how you prefer to make decisions—based on logical analysis or guided by concern for your impact on others.
  • Judging—Perceiving: describes how you prefer to deal with the outer world—in a planned orderly way, or in a flexible spontaneous way.

Combinations of these preferences result in 16 distinct personality types. Understanding the characteristics unique to each personality type provides insight on how they influence your way of communicating and interacting with others.

The MBTI® Step II (Form Q) is a 24 page report that drills down and details 20 facets of the preferences for more in-depth personality type understanding. Support materials are also available to help provide guidance on training, administration and education of the instrument.
